Call for Workshop Participation

This workshop will provide participants with ideas regarding the development of personality models for interactive storytelling systems. It will describe various approaches to personality modeling, and explain the differences between first-person, second-person, and third-person personality attributes. Participants will be try their hands at simple personality models, learning about issues of completeness and orthogonality in selecting personality attributes. The workshop will include discussion of arithmetic ranges to use: boolean values, floating-point values, ranges from 0 to 1, and ranges from -1 to +1. The mathematics of “bounded numbers” will be explained and the use of operators unique to this number system will be presented. Participants will experiment with these methods, comparing their results with others and discussing preferred methods.
